Nope! Painting a premade pot can be done by anyone – even if you’ve never worked with clay before!

Unfortunately, no.
Ceramics is a lengthy process, but its worth it!
Did you know that many ceramic objects are so durable that we’re still finding pieces from ancient civilizations?
Once they’re fired (twice!) in a ceramic kiln that gets to over 2000 degrees Fahrenheit, they are then food-safe, microwave-safe, and even oven-safe.

Due to the nature of our firing schedules and the volume of pieces being made in our space, we are unable to guarantee any specific ready-by dates or commit to any deadlines. Sorry!

Ceramics is a labor of love! And by that we mean they take a lot of time and handling. “Bisque” is the state that you paint your pottery pieces. At this stage, it has already been kiln-fired at around 1800 degrees(!) Farenheit. They are sturdier than unfired clay, but are NOT food safe or water-tight, etc.
After you paint your piece(s) here, we hand-apply a clear coating called glaze to each of your pieces, being careful to avoid the bottoms so they don’t get stuck to the kiln.
Then, they all pieces get loaded into our kiln. It’s often a game of tetris to fit as many pieces so that no space is wasted. The firing itself takes around 24 hours to reach 2200+ degrees Farenheit, then come back down to room temperature.
Once your piece has gone through 2 firings and is successfully glazed, it is food-safe, beverage-safe, and can be put into the microwave, too! Ceramics is a pretty magical medium that lasts an eternity…so the time that goes into completing a piece is well worth it, we think ;)
Come try your hand at making a piece!
