Our 8-week creative learning experiences. Through weekly sessions, we build new skills, deepen our lifelong practice, and find inspiration within a supportive community. Offered in various mediums.
Why join a Journey?
Drop-in classes are great for trying something once, but real growth and connection happens over time, with repetition. Anything worth doing rewards patience. See how the medium changes across sessions, where you find inspiration in unlikely places, and how you respond as you get more familiar and build on skills.
Building relationships works the same way. Everyone at Drawing Room is interested in meeting like-minded community as much as building a creative practice. Learning alongside one another every week means you see each other's progress, get inspired by your conversations, and stay accountable to showing up. That's why we call Drawing Room a practice space. More on what that means here, and more on what we're actually practicing here.

This season, we go foraging. We put our creative knowledge into practice, seeking out rare ingredients, making magic and admiring the wonders of our surroundings.
Cohort Program
Choose your own schedule of 8 workshops taking place weeknights and weekends from Sept 8/9 to Nov 10/11. First five registrants receive a free guest workshop pass.
Print Lab
An 8-week printmaking intensive. Mondays 6:30-9:30 pm from Sept 14 to Nov 2 in Williamsburg.
Writers’ Room
An 8-week writing intensive. Thursdays 6:30-9:30pm from Sept 17 to Nov 5 in Williamsburg.
Everyday Rituals
An 8-week ceramics intensive. Tuesdays 6:30-9:30 pm from Sept 15 to Nov 3 in Williamsburg.
Embroidery Studio
An 8-week embroidery intensive. Saturdays, 9:30am-12:30pm from Sept 12 to Nov 7 at our Midtown location.
Through the Looking-Glass
An 8-week drawing intensive. Mondays 6:30-9:30pm, from Sept 14 to Nov 9, in Midtown. SOLD OUT

Jumpstart your creativity and stay inspired! Build your own flexible schedule of 8 workshops over 8 weeks in mediums like ceramics, printmaking, writing, drawing, painting, textiles, and more.

Ceramics Journeys
Some of the oldest ceramics ever excavated still show the fingerprints of the potter who shaped them. Clay holds every decision you make, and it's always been made in company. Communal kilns, shared glaze buckets, everyone at the same bench. Learn the whole slow process: building, drying, glazing, firing. A tactile medium full of small revelations at your hands.
Everyday Rituals
An 8-week hand-building ceramics intensive to reimagine our everyday objects with intention, turning chores into beloved rituals we look forward to.
Objects of Light
An 8-week hand-building ceramics (and electrical wiring) journey to design and create functioning lamps & luminaries.
Printmaking Journeys
Printmaking has always been a tool for communication. The press turned pamphlets into revolutions and broadsheets into newspapers, printed by people working together in shared shops. It's a balance between control and surrender: each print is a record of time and touch, and no two are ever the same. Our Print Labs sit in that tradition.
Print Lab
An 8-week printmaking intensive to learn techniques like relief, drypoint, and monoprint while experimenting with a professional printing press, quality papers, and your own set of plates.
Writing Journeys
One of humanity's oldest technologies, writing teaches you to listen closely, to notice what's already moving through you, and to give language to it. It sounds like a solitary practice, but writing in a room with other people is a different experience: it quiets the internal editor and gets the words out.
Writers’ Room
An 8-week creative writing intensive designed like a real writers’ room. We learn creative writing techniques from examples, and emphasize low-pressure conversation. No experience required.
Writers’ Room II
A next-level, 8-week writing intensive for those who have finished Writers’ Room and have comfort with generating pages. The tone shifts from supportive feedback to generative critique

An 8-week drawing intensive exploring foundational techniques like observational drawing, mark-making, and figure drawing, all while discovering how drawing can fit into your everyday life through your sketchbook practice.

Painting Journeys
Alchemy of Paint
An 8-week painting intensive exploring watercolor and goauche paint. We focus on the paint itself, and learn to plein air paint, figure paint, combine the two paint types, and work up to a final piece for Showcase.
Textile Journeys
Textiles are all around us. Almost every culture developed its own version of weaving, embroidery, felting, dyeing. Working with fiber is slow, tactile, and quietly meditative, and it connects you to a lineage of hands that stretches beyond memory. It's also always been a group practice. Sewing circles, quilting bees, the shared table where you talk while your hands work. Our textile workshops sit inside that tradition.
Embroidery Studio
An 8-week embroidery intensive. Learn a variety of stitches and techniques to build a personal library and work towards ad final project!
Included in all Journeys
Creative Flow Membership
All journeys include the Creative Flow Membership at Drawing Room. Enjoy unlimited Open Hours, access to the Art and Clay Libraries on every visit, exclusive member events, guest passes, and member perks.
Office Hours with your Instructors
Journey members and alumni have the ability to schedule time with Instructors to receive additional support, access to class equipment, and ask questions while working on independent projects during Open Hours.
Showcase Night
A show-and-tell of your favorite works to celebrate your growth from the Journey. We’ll admire the creations of our fellow members, celebrate with your instructors, and enjoy food, beverages, music and mingling!
All supplies and tools are provided
All sessions come with the supplies and tools that you’ll need. No additional purchases are necessary, just show up and we’ll have everything you need ready for you. Keep the projects you make.

Our Instructors
Drawing Room instructors are passionate, practicing artists who love sharing their skills and ideas to build a more creative, connected world. They each have distinct styles and ways of teaching, and work together to design and instruct our Journeys.
Aubrey (she/her) teaches workshops, intensives, and leads the ceramics team at Drawing Room! She makes pots with playfully illustrated faces and feelings.

Rachel Herron
Rachel Herron (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist, writer, and educator whose workshops blend storytelling, play, and creative exploration.
Ivy teaches ceramics workshops and intensives. She’s inspired by the natural world around her.
Ivy Weinglass
Angie Hewitt
Angie (she/her) is an artist and printmaker whose work is rooted in process, repetition, and experimentation.
Jia Sung (she/her) is an artist and educator whose practice centers marginalized stories through a narrative-driven approach shaped by her immigrant experience.
Luisa Mantelli
Luisa Mantelli (she/her) is a textile artist whose crochet, weaving, embroidery, and natural dyeing translate themes of migration, memory, and transformation.
Jia Sung
Ray Hwang (he/him) is a an artist whose layered, abstracted personal‑history work explores themes of family, home, and intercultural tension.

Yes, of course!
As a member you receive an automatic discount on all Journeys Simply use the same account to purchase, then we will auto-pause your membership for the duration of your Journey.
Any remaining days in your membership renewal cycle will resume the day your Journey ends. This ensures that any unused days are not lost, and you retain any credits in your account.

Our Cohort Program is designed to be flexible to fit your schedule. Done in advance, you are able to switch out workshops on your own, in your account.
For intensives, we don’t have makeup sessions but we offer weekly Office Hours during Journey seasons that are a great way to connect with your instructor between sessions, and get caught up on what you have missed. Simply let your instructor know and they can prepare to help you with this!

Yes! We offer interest-free payment plans. Simply select that option on the payment page.

Because the Cohort Program workshops are designed so you can build a truly custom schedule, remaining spots are also open to members and the public for drop-in bookings. A great options if you’d like to bring friends or family for a fun activity!
Intensive workshops are not open to the public and are exclusive to your group. You can expect to see the familiar faces of your Intensive members in each of these classes.

All enrollments are final and nonrefundable. Please double check your calendar.
If you are unable to make certain dates, we offer weekly Office Hours to help you make up the session and get caught up.

Absolutely!
There’s so much to learn each time you participate in a Journey, and they’re open level, so you are encouraged to work with the instructors to push yourself.
Plus, each Journey is a new opportunity to make new friends and share an experience with a tight knit group of people!

While some people do this, we’d personally recommend you take them one at a time. Each of our journeys are designed to be a comprehensive experience. While participating in multiple (Cohort Program AND an Intensive, for example) is not impossible, you may find yourself at Drawing Room a LOT!! Which, we’d love, but may be intense!
For all of our Journeys, you can expect to be at Drawing Room an average of 1-2 times per week, across your sessions, plus Office Hours and other included Member Gatherings you may be interested in.
