    Cut down on screen-time with a meditative practice, while creating one of a kind pieces for yourself or your friends.

    Professional, beginner-friendly instruction provided by our wonderful instructor, Adriana Gramly. Demos and guidance provided throughout.

    Having a guide at your disposal to help you when you drop your first stitch (you will) or offer advice when your tension is too tight (it happens) is one of the great aspects of joining a class to embark on your first knitting project!

    Knit & Purl is more than just a workshop. At Drawing Room we’re all about connection through creativity. These are great to come to solo or with friends; we all gather around in a knitting circle on plush surfaces to chat and have a great time.

What to expect

    • Brief inspiration presentation showing the different techniques

    • History of women in the craft

    • Ways we see knitting used functionally, in craft, and in the fine art world

    • Gain an understanding of different yarns and their fiber qualities

    • Take a look at some knit inspiration

    • How to choose your knitting needles

    • Learn how to start any knit project by casting on

    • Learn a handful of stitches to play with

    • Select our yarns and roughly sketch out our pillow design

    • Touch on basic shaping techniques by adding and dropping stitches

    • Learn about “tension” and why it matters

    • Learn a handful of stitches to play with and add variation to your project

    • Emphasis on color selection/color theory

    • Learn how to cast off when you’re done with your project

    • Emphasis on how to plan a project for the future

    • Various fun yarns!

    • Wooden knitting needles that you can keep!

    • Pillow insert (this is an example. Exact material/supply depends on the theme/project of the workshop; please see upcoming events for details)

    • Leave class with your first project of many, and a new skill to use for some one-of-a-kind gifts!

    • Workshops include Open Hours access in case you don’t finish your project and want to stick around!
