Why Color in Flow at Drawing Room?

  • Learn the joys of watercolor and water-soluble mediums

    Treat yourself to some color! Watercolor painting is so joyful, and what better way to get started than with community?

    Learn how to control (and when to let go) various water-soluble mediums, including watercolor, in this beginner-friendly workshop. We’ll learn the fundamental techniques, then experiment with wax resisting, salt, blotting, and even watercolor crayons! This is a playful, experiential class, where we collaborate with new friends, while learning to get in the flow.

    Professional, beginner-friendly instruction provided by our wonderful instructor, Meiying Thai. Demos and guidance provided throughout.

    We'll even frame our pieces at the end!

    Color in Flow is more than just a workshop. At Drawing Room we’re all about connection through creativity. These are great to come to solo or with friends; we all gather around shared tables to chat and have a great time.

What to expect

  • During this multi-media watercolor and water-soluble mediums workshop, you will: 

    • Enjoy beginner-friendly instruction from a professional artist 

    • Experiment with high-quality water-soluble materials like watercolor paints, water-soluble colored pencils/pastels, artist-grade papers, and more

    • Learn various techniques and effects for these mediums, including blotting, blending, using salt, and so much more! 

    • Create a final piece you will frame at the end!! It will be ready to go up on your wall 🤯

    • Enjoy collaborative exercises and prompts with other attendees in the group

  • Everything you need will be provided, including:

    • High-quality water-soluble materials like watercolor paints, water-soluble colored pencils/pastels, artist-grade papers, and more

    • Brushes, palette, and water jars

    • A frame for your final piece (optional)

  • Enjoy our loose-leaf tea station! Additional beverages and snacks are available for purchase.
