Block Printing

at Drawing Room

Block printing is direct: you carve, you ink, you press. What you make is immediate and tactile. You can see your decisions. You can feel where the tool went.

In our block printing workshops, you'll learn to design and carve a relief block, roll ink, and pull a print. You'll make multiple prints, which means you get to try things more than once, and iteration turns out to be where most of the learning happens.

People who do block printing often describe it as meditative. There's a rhythm to carving that pulls you in. And when you lift the block and see the print come up, there's a specific satisfaction that's immediate and joyful.

Beginner-friendly. No experience required. All materials including but not limited to inks, carving blocks, and tools are included for use during workshop. Take home the pieces you create.

2 locations: Midtown Manhattan + Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Class size: 10–15 students. Duration of workshops: 2.5 hours
