Head of Community Experience
(Part-Time / Hourly) | Rate: $30/hour | Estimated Hours: 15–20 per week | Mix of weekday and weekend hours
Location: NYC. This is a heavily in-person role; some remote/hybrid hours permitted.
Overview
We’re looking for a thoughtful, strategic, and systems-minded person to lead the charge on how our community interacts with and experiences Drawing Room, from first visit to long-term engagement.
This role blends strategy, execution, and operations. You’ll drive the trajectory of our membership ecosystem, and support the quality and consistency of our guest experiences (Open Hours and beyond).
Your initial primary focus will be owning the daily operations of the space, managing our team of hosts and working closely with team members like our Operations Coordinator and Social Media Manager. You’ll then also be working on strategic initiatives with the Founder, Head of Programming, etc. to ensure our physical space, people systems, programming, and communications/marketing are aligned and evolving in thoughtful, scalable ways to serve and grow our community.
What You'll Do:
Hospitality & Guest Experience
You’ll own and shape the front-of-house and hospitality practices that define our community’s daily experience. This means ensuring guests feel welcomed and cared for from the moment they arrive, and members experience consistent warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail.
In this role, you’ll:
Build strong relationships with members of the community through in-person presence, and deeply understand their needs. This insight will shape strategic decisions and ideas.
Oversee standards and consistency for hosting, greetings, and daily flow of the space. You’ll design guest experience protocols, and turn recurring challenges into clear, actionable processes that support daily operations.
Improve on foundational systems and documentation that ensure smooth operations, such as inventory management.
Become an expert on our creative supplies to ensure that team members are equipped to provide excellent experiences
Become an expert on our programming to ensure that team members are equipped to drive awareness. You’ll partner with our Programming team to infuse our hospitality approach and design.
Brainstorm and design touchpoints (ex: seasonal events, workshops, open houses) that elevate the guest and member experience and drive growth
Management Foundations
You’ll manage the team of hosts, including hiring, training, and onboarding, and help build out frameworks that support their growth. You’ll implement foundational management systems that are eventually applied to the company as a whole.
Key responsibilities include:
Drafting role descriptions, evaluation frameworks, and onboarding guides
Supporting the rollout of performance check-ins and metrics
Partnering with the Founder to prototype a light-touch performance management system
Growth Strategy
You’ll strategize to drive revenue growth across our Membership and Guest programs. This can include everything from awareness, conversion, and retention strategies to marketing initiatives, newsletters, communications, and partnership opportunities.
You’ll also:
Strategize with team leads to drive sales and monitor growth progress
Conduct market and competitor research to guide pricing and other strategic decisions
Build and maintain forecasting tools and monthly performance reports
Partner with the team to optimize costs and improve efficiency
Strategic & Organizational Support
You’ll track and synthesize key metrics across teams, identify bottlenecks, and propose improvements. You may also occasionally support special projects related to scaling, such as team structure or new tools.
